Welcome to Land Registry HM online restrictive covenants advice pages. To the left you will see a directory of articles and guides relating to restrictive covenants and the common questions relating to.

Restrictive covenants are private contracts that run in ‘Successor In Title’; this means each successive owner of the land shall be either bound (or derives benefit) from the covenant.

A restrictive covenant is a common feature of most properties title and can be used to varying affect. Some of the more common uses of a covenant are to ensure fence and wall building and maintenance, limiting building of further properties, limiting the use of the property or land and the storage of caravans.

The articles should provide information to those both wishing to enforce a restrictive covenant and also those looking to discharge (remove) a restrictive covenant.
